dot.gif (966 bytes) Introduction

Double Trouble is a classic board game with many names. We couldn't find anything about its original author and developer, but we used to spend quite a good deal of time playing it. The decision to port it to our favorite handheld platform was therefore pretty natural.

So here it is!

dot.gif (966 bytes)  Rules

The game goes on a board, which in the beginning of each level is full of figures, arranged in columns and rows. Depending on the game level, more or less of the board will be covered with figures.

Your task is to clean the board by following the rules of removing figures. In fact, there is only one rule, so you won't have to sweat remembering it.

Only two figures of same kind can be simultaneously removed from the board, but they must be able positioned in a way that allows a line with no more than two turns to be drawn between them, going through empty board cells.

We'll try it again, in case you missed it the first time: the way to remove figures from the board is to consecutively select two figures of same shape. There also has to be a way of connecting those two figures with a nonbreakable line going only horizontally and vertically (no diagonals!) through empty board cells and the line shouldn't make more than two turns!

Here are some examples of valid and invalid selections:

Valid
The two figures of same kind are next to each other, there is a direct line that connects them.
karate.gif (1303 bytes) Valid
The two figures of the same shape are connected with consecutive line going trough empty cells and which makes less than three turns.

The two figures of the same shape are connected with consecutive line going trough empty cells and which makes less than three turns.
karate.gif (1303 bytes) Invalid
These two figures, although of same shape, could not be selected for disposition, because the line that connects them (remember, it can't be diagonal!) and goes through empty board cell, has more than 2 turns. Bad, bad, bad...
